JKSPE has an online submission and peer review system at https://www.editorialmanager.com/jkspe/.
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of the Korean Society for Precision Engineering (JKSPE) are subject to peer review. Authors may recommend up to three potential reviewers when submitting a manuscript. Manuscripts must be submitted through the Society’s online submission system and prepared in accordance with the author guidelines. The Editor-in-Chief may decline submissions that are outside the scope of the journal or do not comply with the submission requirements. All manuscripts are subject to a rigorous peer review process, and acceptance is not guaranteed.
Before peer review, all manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using Similarity Check powered by iThenticate.
JKSPE operates a single-blind peer review system, in which reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities, but authors are not informed of the reviewers’ identities. The Editor-in-Chief assigns an appropriate Editor according to the manuscript’s subject area, who then appoints an Editorial Board Member to oversee the review process. The supervising Editorial Board Member recommends two reviewers with relevant expertise from different institutions than those of the authors. A third reviewer may be appointed if necessary, but the total number of reviewers shall not exceed three.
Each reviewer is required to provide an objective assessment and choose one of the following recommendations:
Accept, Accept subject to minor revisions, Re-review after major revisions, or Reject.
Reviewers must complete the initial review within 14 days of accepting the review invitation, and any subsequent review (for revised manuscripts) within 7 days. The Editorial Board Member and Editor shall finalize their decisions within 7 days after receiving all reviews. If reviewers fail to respond within 14 days, alternative reviewers may be appointed. If review results are delayed for more than three months, the supervising Editorial Board Member and Editor may complete the review themselves within seven days.
Authors are required to submit revised manuscripts reflecting the reviewers’ comments within 14 days (for minor revisions) or 30 days (for major revisions). If a revised manuscript is not received within this period, the Editorial Board may withdraw it from consideration. Authors may request a continuation by resubmitting the manuscript.
The final decision on publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief, based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the comprehensive evaluation of the handling Editor and Editing Director. Manuscripts receiving two or more “Reject” decisions from reviewers are not eligible for publication.
Special issues or invited papers are reviewed under the supervision of a Special Editor appointed by the Editor-in-Chief upon recommendation by the Society. If the Special Editor is a Director or Division Chair of the Society, he or she directly oversees the review and final decision. Otherwise, the Board of Editing Directors designates the appropriate Editor to manage the process. All articles published in JKSPE, including those in special issues, are peer reviewed.
All reviewers must maintain confidentiality. Reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors, and review results are shared only with the corresponding author.
If an author raises an objection to a review decision, communication between the author and reviewers shall occur only through the handling Editor. Requests for re-review are generally not accepted.
All published articles in JKSPE display the dates of submission, revision, acceptance, and publication on their article page. Details of the review process and editorial decisions are not disclosed.
Further details on peer review can be found in the Peer review policy page under EDITORIAL POLICIES .
