Conceptual design is the process to determine the basic concept, to define the overall function, to establish the functional structure, and to develop and complete the structure of the product, which is to be designed. In the existing conceptual design studies, however, it has not been verified that there is a theory regarding the product development process, with figuring out the correlation among Worth (W), Cost (C), and Satisfaction (S), and drawing the design equilibrium constant. Therefore, this paper presents the design equilibrium constant which explains the product development process, but can also be utilized in the conceptual design process. The design equilibrium constant is derived through defining the ideal product, its market competitiveness, and utilizing the process of the formulating Kano model. When utilizing the derived design equilibrium constant, it helps explain how the development process of the product makes progress in the market, and clarifies the change of an aspect of product life cycle.
FormFactors is one of the most critical design factors in early development of mobile phone, and proper selection of FormFactors is necessary for smoothness of product development and customer satisfaction. Especially, emergence of mobile convergence added so various functions besides its original call function that importance of selecting FormFactors has increased because multiform FormFactors are needed. However there is problem such as frequent change of decision making in existing process because established process picks out FormFactors sensibly and arbitrarily through idea pull and so forth. We proposed FormFactors selection process by Axiomatic Design, set approach method and block approach method for reasonable and systematical FormFactors selection. First of all, we set the purpose of mobile phone development, and it is examined by Axiomatic Design. FormFactors design matrix is deduced through this process, the numbers of axes and rails are proposed using set approach method, and then patterns of FormFactors are embodied by block approach method. Particularly process application was tried through case study of mobile phone development, and we ensured that new FormFactors can be presented to a designer by systematical verification if change of customer requirements occurs through our process.
Microcellular foaming plastics create a sensation at polymer industrial for lowering product costs and overcoming a lowering of mechanical intensity. Among many advantages, microcellular foaming plastics is well known to have a good acoustical properties. This research based on the experiment of sound absorption and transmission characteristics inquire into acoustical properties of microcellular foaming plastics. Difference of transmission loss of microcellular foaming plastics and solid materials was defined as cell effect. Also, cell effect is expressed by sound reflection and sound absorption. This study is expected to fundamental research to present economical, functional alternative plan for products using sound absorption and transmission materials.
Design structure of a mobile phone has been changed to a converged style, which has so many functions. However, the converged mobile phone could not satisfy the users who want to use only specific functions, so with Axiomatic Design, we have studied for making a proposal to set up the new concept. The goal of this study is to derive a general solution with Axiomatic Design to verify the Independence. By enhancing the existing design model and differentiating the function of mobile phone, user will be able to choose desirable products, which have only specific functions and/or specific parts. First of all, we checked the Independence about the existing design model. Then, we developed the new design model with the idea that base mobile phone should have basic functions and additional functions can be separated, surely be connected when users want.
Nowadays, the companies use polymer materials for many purposes for they have many advantages. The costs of these materials take up too high a proportion of the overall cost of products that use these materials as their major material. It is advantage for polymer industries to reduce these costs. The microcellular foaming process was developed in the early 1980s to solve this problem and proved to be quite successful. Microcellular foaming process uses inert gases such as CO₂, N₂. As these gases solve into polymer matrices, many properties are changed. The microcellular foaming process makes the glass transition temperature of polymers to low, and diminish the residual stress of polymer matrices. Besides, the microcellular foaming process has several merits, impact strength elevation, thermal insulation, noise insulation, and raw material saving etc. In previous research, many facts of microcellular foaming process are founded its characteristics. But previous researcher found the characteristics of microcellular foaming process with pure gas, for example CO₂, N₂ and so on, they did not found the characteristics of microcellular foaming process with one more gases. If one more gases inlet the resin, the characteristics of microcellular foaming process is changed very amazingly. In this paper, discuss on the characteristics of microcellular foaming process with gas cocktail about cell morphology.
